The Community of Rancho Santa Fe is located four miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in northern San Diego County, twenty miles north of Downtown San Diego. This area of California is prestigious and very wealthy. In 1997, Worth Magazine rated Rancho Santa Fe as the sixth richest community in the country. The subdivisions of Rancho Santa Fe are run as homeowner associations with all the codes, covenants and restrictions. Rancho Santa Fe has strict design restrictions. Many streets outside of the downtown area are lined with landscaping; on side streets the landscaping of individual properties provides ambient decor. Very few homes are visible from the road. Median home prices in Rancho Santa Fe are well over $2,000,000. Most home sites are 2-4 acres in size.
